The Miraculous Wings Project: A 3D Laser Scanning Challenge in Quy Nhon

3D Laser Scanning Challenge, the rapid advancement of 3D laser scanning technology is unlocking exciting new possibilities for the accurate capture and visualization of existing structures and surfaces. This precise technology plays a crucial role across various fields, from architecture to art and event planning. At VMT Solutions, we are proud to successfully implement this technology in significant projects, such as 3D mapping of historical buildings and large-scale events.

1. The Spectacular Performance of “Miraculous Wings”
The grand concert “Miraculous Wings” recently took place in Quy Nhon, leaving a lasting impression on audiences with its breathtaking sound and light displays. The visual spectacle created an unforgettable experience for all who attended. However, behind the scenes, a dedicated team of 3D mapping experts worked tirelessly to ensure that every laser light beam hit the intricate wall carvings with millimeter precision. This was made possible by cutting-edge 3D laser scanning technology and highly accurate foundational data.
2. The Journey of Creating “Miraculous Wings”
The journey of this project began with the use of advanced 3D laser scanners to capture the entire surface of the carved wall, producing an extremely accurate 3D digital model down to the millimeter.
Based on this data, the experts meticulously designed a laser lighting system to ensure the light beams aligned perfectly with each pattern on the relief wall. Even the smallest detail had to be spot on.
This process was far more challenging than anticipated due to the uneven curvature of the wall. Projecting light onto a curved surface with such high accuracy was a significant challenge for the team.
3. 3D Laser Scanning Technology – The Key to the Stunning Light Show
Many may wonder why such advanced laser lighting techniques have only recently appeared at major events, despite laser technology existing for years. The answer lies in the rapid advancements in 3D laser scanning technology, particularly in Vietnam. Thanks to precise surveying with 3D laser scanning, lighting systems can now be designed with exceptional accuracy, resulting in visually stunning outcomes like the one seen at “Miraculous Wings.”
4. VMT Solutions – A Trusted Partner in Major Projects
In Vietnam, VMT Solutions is proud to have been part of numerous large-scale 3D mapping projects. One of the first major applications of this technology in Vietnam was during the 3D laser scanning survey of Ho Chi Minh City Hall.

At that time, we were using an older laser scanner, which we no longer use, but it remains a proud memory. Since then, this technology has been applied to many other significant events across Vietnam, typically held at the most beautiful squares, in front of historic buildings with complex architectural details.
5. 3D Laser Scanning Challenges and Opportunities
Our role extends beyond just surveying and providing point cloud data. We also process this data to create mesh 3D models and 2D drawings, ready for use. The biggest challenge we often face is the short turnaround time for delivering results, as contractors or project plans are often finalized just before the event. However, with our experience and efficient workflows, we are well-equipped to handle this pressure, consistently delivering high-quality results on time.
6. Enjoying the Results of “Miraculous Wings”
Now, let’s enjoy the outcome of “Miraculous Wings” – a perfect blend of technology, art, and the unwavering dedication of the entire team.
