VMTS × Biberach University: Academic Meets BIM Practice

We had the pleasure of welcoming two professors from Biberach University of Applied Sciences to our office to talk about the practice of the scan-to-BIM workflow.

- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Glock, Academic Director of Civil Engineering and Construction Management at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU).
What We Discussed
The exchange centered on how point cloud processing and scan-to-BIM modeling differ in practice from academic teaching, and where both sides can learn from each other. We showed how we build native BIM models for Revit, Archicad, Allplan, and Vectorworks from 3D laser scans, which levels of detail (LOD 100 to 400) are common, and how we check the accuracy of every model against the point cloud before it goes to the client.
Bridging Theory and Practice: Our Internship Program
A central topic of the conversation was our internship program. Students from Biberach University and VGU get hands-on experience with us in modeling with Archicad and Revit as well as point cloud processing, work on real projects, and learn the requirements that actually apply in professional practice.
