The Challenge
Spital Emmental, which includes Spital Burgdorf and Spital Langnau, needed a reliable digital reference for the ongoing maintenance and management of the Spital Burgdorf site. Hospital campuses change constantly as facilities are maintained, repaired, and adapted over time, and without accurate as-built documentation, maintenance teams risk working from outdated or incomplete information — a costly and disruptive problem for a facility that has to stay operational.
The Solution
VMT Solutions was engaged to convert on-site laser scan data into precise CAD deliverables. The team processed 388 scan points and 499 photographs captured across the Spital Burgdorf site, translating the raw point cloud into accurate CAD models aligned with the hospital’s maintenance and facility management needs. The project ran alongside the hospital’s broader construction and maintenance activities between 2014 and 2018.
The Result
The outcome was a high-quality digital twin of Spital Burgdorf that gives the facility management team an accurate, reliable reference for ongoing maintenance and operations. By outsourcing this Point Cloud to CAD work to VMT Solutions, Spital Emmental was able to ensure the digital representation of its Burgdorf site matched reality closely enough to support day-to-day facility decisions.
