Schloss Laufen, majestically perched above Europe’s largest waterfall, is a site rich in history, exuding authenticity, nobility, and an international spirit. Located just 47 kilometers from Zurich Airport, the castle and its visitor center are easily accessible, with the Schloss Laufen train station only a short walk away.
VMT Solutions played a critical role in the architectural renovation of this cultural heritage site. Our task was to capture and model the complex exterior and interior details of the castle, a structure characterized by diverse door and window openings, multiple roof levels, and intricate architectural elements.
Our team meticulously processed 406 point cloud files to create highly accurate 2D drawings and 3D models of both the exterior and interior areas of Schloss Laufen. The delivered models included detailed representations of architectural features such as window and door frames, stone cornices, and moldings. These precise models were essential for the careful renovation of the castle, ensuring that all historical details were preserved with the highest level of accuracy.
In addition to the CAD models, we provided the client with a series of 747 photographs, expertly stitched together and overlaid on the 3D models from each scan location. This comprehensive visual documentation enhanced the renovation process by offering a detailed and accurate reference for every aspect of the castle’s architecture.
