Can a 3D scanner capture color images?

Laser beams themselves cannot record color information. However, some 3D scanner models can be integrated with cameras and capture photographs during the scanning process. Once the scanning process is completed, the data is processed using specialized software. The scan data is then represented as a 360-degree image for each scanned point. Wherever a point exists, it is assigned a corresponding image pixel, and the software applies an RGB (Red, Green, Blue) color value to that point. Finally, the scan management software displays the scan data in full color.
